Rincon Real Estate Information
Rincon is a relatively small community found in the southeastern portion of the “Empire State of the South”. Rincon has a population of approximately four thousand four hundred residents, and is technically considered a city of the state of Georgia. Rincon is considered a part of the Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area, meaning that Rincon is predominately suburban in nature. Rincon is currently governed by Mayor Ken Lee, and maintains a mayor-city council form of city government. Rincon includes a total of about six and two thirds square miles, although none of that total includes any significant amount of standing surface water. Rincon has a population density of about six hundred and fifty persons per square mile, and is found almost at sea level thanks to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.
The earliest inhabitants of the area which is now considered Rincon were of course Native Americans, who lived in the region for literally thousands of years prior to the arrival of European settlers. Europeans and Americans began to arrive in the year seventeen fifty one, and started forming a decently sized community before the end of the nineteenth century. The development of Rincon began to accelerate considerably after the arrival of the railroad. Rincon's name origin is not entirely clear, although some speculate that it is related to a town of the same name in Mexico. Rincon was officially incorporated in the year nineteen twenty seven, and was reincorporated and reorganized twenty seven years later in the year nineteen fifty four.
Despite its relatively small size, Rincon is the largest city in Effingham County and has an excellent array of highly rated municipal services. The educational needs of Rincon are met by a number of regional and local institutions, including Rincon Elementary School, Ebenezer Middle School, Effingham Christian School, and Ebenezer Elementary School. Points of interest in and around Rincon include the Lost Plantation Golf Club, the Effingham Memorial Gardens, and Sergeant Jasper Park. Rincon is also just a short drive away from the largest city in the region, Savannah, which offers a pleasant dose of urban attractions and activities.
