Bloomingdale Real Estate Information

Bloomingdale is a relatively small city found in the southeastern portion of the “Empire State of the South”. Bloomingdale has a population of approximately two thousand seven hundred residents, at least as of the year two thousand, when the last census was taken. In the subsequent nine years, the rapid growth of the nearby city of Savannah and the arrival of more residents in surrounding regions may well have increased the population of Bloomingdale as well. Bloomingdale is technically considered a city of the Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area, the largest urban grouping in the area. Bloomingdale is located in Chatham County, and has a relatively low population density. Bloomingdale encompasses a total area of about thirteen and one third square miles, only a fraction of which is surface water.

Although the area which is now considered Bloomingdale was originally inhabited by Native Americans for literally thousands of years, non-Native Americans did not begin to explore the region until the sixteenth century. The first Europeans to discover the region were Spanish explorers, although settlers did not arrive until the middle of the eighteenth century. Modern day Bloomingdale bears many traces of the history which helped to shape the city into what it is today, including historic sites and houses. There are also plenty of other historic destinations located in the suburban area around Savannah, just a short drive away from Bloomingdale real estate and houses.

There are a wide variety of educational institutions both in Bloomingdale itself and in a number of surrounding communities. Some of the most important schools in the proximate area include West Chatham Middle School, Bloomingdale Elementary School, South Effingham High School, and Pooler Elementary School. There are also numerous other private schools, universities, and colleges in the city of Savannah. Recreational points of interest in and around Bloomingdale include the Mighty Eight Air Force Museum, the Crosswinds Golf Club, Sand Hill Park, and the City of Bloomingdale Community Center. Residents of Bloomingdale can also enjoy the Hollow Oak Campground, L Scott Stell Park, and Tom Triplett Park.
