Savannah is one of the largest cities in the state of Georgia and by far the most populous and important city in Chatham County. Savannah serves as the county seat of Chatham County, and has a rich historic and cultural legacy. Points of interest in the historic city of Savannah include Tybee Island Light Station, Hutchinson Island, the Eugene Talmadge Memorial Bridge, the Savannah Civic Center, Fort Jackson, and the Fort Pulaski National Monument. Savannah is also one of the oldest settlements in Georgia, with its history dating back literally hundreds of years.
